On the Twenty-Nine Palms highway just outside Joshua Tree, we stopped for a midday meal at the Natural Sisters Cafe, which for Jackie, was perfect.
On the outskirts of Palm Springs, the wind can be very strong, so power is generated there.
After a good dinner we settle in at the Hotel Zoso, which was about to be converted to a trendy new hotel in a couple of weeks. We liked it the way it was, and suspect it won't be a positive improvment with the change to a new direction.
We had the hot tubs and swimming pool all to ourselves late that night.
The next morning we got up and spent the day walking around and relaxing.
At breakfast we had a nice chat with Wasfi, who moved here many years ago for the great climate.

At the end of the day, there's enough time to use our season passes for the aerial tram's last run up to Mt. San Jacinto. Patrick, the tram operator is very pleasant company as we head up to the top.
We're at the top, and outside on the deck, a raccoon is selecting his evening meal as other watch from the shadows.
Next morning, we head out for strolling/hiking first in Indian Canyons, a few miles out of town.
and then in Andreas Canyon.
Every Thursday evening, the main drag becomes a weekly Village Fest market and bazaar, under warm and dry skies. Complete with entertainment of various styles, it's a great way to end the day.
Tomorrow, it's round the mountains and up to Idyllwild to start our several day Mt San Jacinto hike via the Marion Mountain trail
